AMS - Alarm Management System​

It is a proven fact that “Alarm flooding” has a substantial impact on production and operational costs, while being a contributing factor to accidents. As manufacturing lines, factories, and plants, increase in complexity, so does this problem. Although the information is available in the SCADA system, distinguishing critical alarms while maintaining an overview of events has become increasingly difficult.​​​

Another fact is that by weeding out the typical 80% of non-critical alarms and focus on the 20% that are relevant, you would be able to benefit on several parameters:​

init .AMS is a solution designed to efficiently address the mentioned parameters. .AMS is based on the ISA 18.2 Alarm Management Standard, and packaged into a turn-key solution that is directly adaptable to widely used SCADA systems, such as iFIX.

1. A dedicated .AMS data warehouse is established in the init Alarm Management Cloud.​
2. A data collector is installed as software or as a hardware device on site and schedules extraction of alarms from the SCADA to push to the .AMS data warehouse. No changes are needed to the SCADA system, nor will performance be affected.​
3. ​init .AMS arranges the data into a data mart using ISA 18.2 calculations combined with context specific information.​
4. The data is presented in an analytical dashboard with statistics and different options to filter and sort data.

Optional:​

1. The data is categorized initially, but this can be further refined to give deeper insight.​
2. ​init can assist in effectively fixing the most annoying and irrelevant alarms, typically related to chattering and fleeting alarms.​
3. The init Cloud instance with .AMS can be activated in your own Azure account, or even on-premises in your local data center.
